Tribune instructions for submitting PNLL games

Thank you for volunteering to be the liaison person for submitting game scores and write ups for your team.

The deadline for receipt of game stories from teams is every Saturday at 8:00 p.m.  Send one e-mail to kristinmauer@comcast.net      Articles submitted after that time will not be published in the next week's Tribune but will appear in a future issue. Additionally, there will be weeks that your submitted stories do not appear because of the amount of other sports stories being submitted but those articles will appear in following weeks.

The scoring summary should be limited to more than10 typed lines or roughly no more than 700 characters (including spaces) three inches. A rough estimation of the length of your article can be done by dividing 204 into the number of characters in your typed text. It is a must that first and last names of the individuals in the article be provided. The scoring recap need not list every player on the team; rather select the outstanding players for that game. The story needs to briefly describe the game. Please no editorializing or thanking players/coaches/sponsors. Please proof read the items provided to you by your coaches.  If a player’s name is used more than once in the story, simply use only the last name the next time he/she is mentioned in the same story.  Please no nicknames of any players. The scoring recap needs to be in complete sentences with proper grammar and the scoring recaps must include the score of both teams.

Here is an example of a good summary:

Division/League

Rockies 15

Padres 6

The Rockies’ bats were red hot as they collected 11 hits. Steve Sagasty led the way with three hits and four RBIs. Also swinging hot bats were Jason Martinelli and Justin Hein with two hits apiece. Anthony Gordon, a triple. Martinelli and Sagasty combined for six solid innings on the mound including a dominating four inning, 10-strikeout performance by Sagasty. Padres fought a tough fight behind the hitting of Nick Pieroti, two singles, Ben Vidali, a RBI triple, and Jacob Synder’s single. Liam Miller, Carlos Grande and Daniel Griggi provided great glove work in the field. Trevor Utler pitched a one-two-three inning, helping himself with a pop out fly.
